Graduate Success Stories
I especially enjoyed the simulations, they gave me the opportunity to put what I learned into practice and get real results! The DeVos online MSF program gave me the knowledge and confidence I needed to run a successful business.
Students should consider DeVos Graduate School because the focus is on the courses that you need to become a better leader, business thinker, and problem solver. It allows you to maintain a professional career while furthering your education. DeVos challenged the way I look at situations.
From start to finish, the staff and professors were available and helpful. The courses were enjoyable and the professors were engaging and easy to learn from. I personally enjoyed that my courses were online, one at a time, and planned over two years.
The DeVos MBA evening program helped to accelerate my transition into the nonprofit sector. The critical thinking skill development has been vital to managing through uncertainty and the constant changing environment of a nonprofit organization. Finally, the well-rounded training provided a multitude of resources that I have consistently been able to tap into including networks.

Shortly after March 2020, COVID-19 caused my business to close its doors. I had to figure out what was next – for me that included roles that were not necessarily my first choice, but gave me the opportunity to support my community and the leadership team at the City of Detroit as they created one of the largest vaccine clinics in the country. I just received a promotion and a substantial raise…
The DeVos Graduate School continues to impact my career greatly. Without my DeVos education, I would not have had the skills and knowledge necessary to get the job I have now. Now that I am in my career and growing, I find myself using the materials from class every day.
What I’m most proud of since graduating from DeVos, is seeing the things that I learned in the MBA program translate to my current position in my day-to-day activities. I was also able to utilize what I learned in the classroom in my current job to analyze, improve and create work processes. This has enabled me to recognize and offer improvements in my current role.
Since graduating from DeVos, I am most proud of upgrading my career and starting at a different company than the one I was working at while obtaining my degree. The knowledge that I learned throughout the Evening MBA Program was critical and I personally felt that I needed to change companies and see things from a different perspective to be able to make an impact on a new company’s culture.
DeVos provided a space to openly discuss issues impacting companies and leaders. It helped all of us in my cohort be more comfortable operating in the “gray” areas; as things in business are not always black and white. The case studies were powerful and my mind frequently refers back to those lessons learned.
I was 53 years old when I started the DeVos MBA program. I had previously earned a Master of Science Degree from Michigan State University (MSU) in 1994 and I was an adjunct professor at MSU teaching criminal justice classes from 1996 to 2016. While my degree from MSU was helpful, it did not provide me with the acumen I needed to thrive at the business aspects of working in the private sector.
